11.20 Weigh anchor, partially overcast, wind N 3, Genoa + motor
12.25 Course 138m, Sea less rolly so just OK down wind sailing Main + Genoa
14.10 Rounding Skelda Ness, Motor
14.50 Tie up in Skeld marina. Very small and quiet, well sheltered. log 15.6 miles
note - Engine battery failed now using service battery to start engine
09.45 Lovely morning. Short walk in the sunshine over the hill.
12.15 Motor out of harbour, wind SW 2, then Main + motor
13.20 Wind W 2, Sea calm switch to gentle sailing (main + Genoa) for lunch
14.35 On the go again - Main + Motor
15.35 Drop anchor in 3St Ninians Bay, wind WSW 1/2. log 12.8 miles
Saturday 21st July - St Ninians Bay, south-east Mainland
05.00 Weigh anchor, wind NNE 1/2, partially overcast, Motor
05.45 Wind N 3, Main + Genoa, course 233M, lots of Puffins around
12.00 Alter course to 222M
12.45 Sun, Main + Spinnaker, change to track mode for steering
15.30 Wind NNE 4, high clouds, Set course for Wetherness Sound, east of Westray
16.30 Spinnaker down for turn through the sound, Main + (motor)
17.00 Through the sound
17.15 approaching Point of Huro, Main + Genoa (+ motor), suddenly all is calm!
18.20 Drop anchor in Bay of Tuquoy, Westray, Log 70.1 miles
attractive anchorage but very exposes to the south.
10.40 Weigh anchor, wind E 3, light mist, Main + Genoa (+ motor)
12.00 Change couse off Rullard Rost, North Rousay - tide now against us, rain
13.45 off Brough Head, wind SExE 3/4, fine
14.20 Wind and tide against us, Main + Motor
16.30 Tie up in Stromness, no race in Hoy mouth. log 33.5 miles
Monday 23rd - 24th Stromness Marina
Prepare Ballintuim for leaving, collect car from Kirkwall
06.45 Drive to St Margarets Hope to catch the ferry to the mainland.
